BURROUGHS   football

In our senior year, the Burbank/Burroughs football game was more than just a battle
between two cross-town rivals -- it was for the Foothill League Championship!
A crowd between 10,000 and 12,000 showed up at Memorial Field
to witness this huge showdown between two great football teams.

Burroughs, led by Head Coach Bob Dunivant, entered the game 8-0 overall, 6-0 in the league.
Burbank entered the game 5-3 overall, but had an outstanding 5-1 in league record.
Burroughs won the big game 36-0, becoming the first team in school's history
to go undefeated in pre-season and league play.

The Indians went 3 rounds into the playoffs, losing to eventual CIF Champs Santa Ana Valley 22-14.
Yet, Burroughs had Santa Ana beaten for most of the game, going into the 4th quarter, leading 14-0.
Our Senior Class team is still tied for the Burroughs' record of most consecutive wins (11).
